If both sides of this equation work well together, viola you will most likely end up in the search engines for the keywords people look up when searching for a product or service you provide.

As long as your competition isn't fully entrnched in the keywords you want to rank for. If they are, and they've been there for a while, the task of marketing your website for those phrases might be a little tough.

We always recommend going after the low hanging fruit. Or in other works the less competitive phrases first so you make a little headway and see some positive results.

Search engine marketing can consist of classifieds ad posting, social marketing (posting on Facebook, MySpace, Digg, etc...) blog posting,  writing articles for other online networks and being involved in your online communities like forums.

Basically  creating a funnel from which "would be customers" will begin to find their way to your website.
